Feedback wanted on Kippax and Charnwood projects

You can provide feedback on the ACT Government’s suburban projects in Kippax and Charnwood.

Chris Steel, ACT Minister for Transport and City Services, has released preliminary designs for upgrades at the Kippax Group Centre and improvements to the public spaces at the Charnwood Group Centre, including new landscaping and better paving options to make the area safer for vulnerable Canberrans.

“At the election, we promised to deliver more and better community infrastructure to support local jobs and ensure our group and local centres remain welcoming and vibrant places to live,” Mr Steel said.

“With construction already underway at local shops like Duffy and Campbell, we’re now asking Canberrans to let us know about what improvements they’d like to see at other centres.”

The design at Kippax focuses on the area of Hardwick Crescent between Luke Street and the service station – and is based on previous consultation in line with the Group Centre Master Plan.

It includes wider and improved verges, new pedestrian crossings and lighting, and new plantings and landscaping.

“This is a key investment to support the growth in Ginninderry, and ensures we can get to work on delivering the Master Plan in line with community expectations,” Mr Steel said.

“It was really important we acted on feedback to fix up the paving and landscaping at Charnwood shops to make it safer and more accessible for the local community, while still maintaining trees and the aesthetic people love about Charnwood.”

Final designs for the Tuggeranong Foreshore upgrades, the new Casey community recreation park, and playground upgrades in four suburbs will be released soon, before construction starts in the new year.

More suburban infrastructure projects, including new dog parks for the north and south of Canberra, will be released for community input before the end of the year.
