Food2Soil combats climate change one brew at a time

Over 28,050 cups of coffee, 1,700kg of food waste, and 3,230kg of CO2 emissions saved from being dumped in landfill and polluting our atmosphere. That’s Food2Soil’s environmental legacy so far, and they’ve only just begun.

A Canberra-based, female-owned business, Food2Soil’s core mission is to honour the Earth and to be part of the solution for a better future – for their children and all generations to come.

Owners Josie and Annabel affectionately call their organic food waste fertiliser a “kombucha for plants and soil” which has been lovingly brewed in their fit for purpose ‘Brewhaus’ to help reduce food waste to landfill and combat climate change.

From a dietitian and ex-chef, Food2Soil understands the enormity of the food waste problem plaguing our world and are taking up the fight one brew at a time.

“We both love good food, and we love enjoying our food and seeing it nourish our families. So, to see it wasted… really stings,” said Josie.

Discovering each other purely by chance, the two entrepreneurs took a leap of faith to launch their environmental business together, and now they’re about to reach their second birthday.

“We use food and coffee waste from cafés to create our biofertiliser. We use the ancient practice of fermentation, not composting, and brew up a microbially live product. Most products on the market aren’t ALIVE with beneficial microbes, ours is, and when you feed them to soil it helps plants absorb nutrients. It’s a better alternative to seaweed extracts, in so many ways, plants just love it!” explained Annabel.

“We are big into giving back to the Earth, as well as this being a movement – not just a product; we even use upcycled equipment, for example, our vats are from the dairy industry. What we are doing is a solution for climate change. If you support our business, you’re investing in a small piece that will go towards the bigger puzzle of change.”

Not only is Josie and Annabel’s business sustainable and environmentally friendly, but they’re donating part of their profits to Greening Australia who aim to plant 500 million trees across the country by 2030.

With proven, evidence-based results, Food2Soil is purely organic. They take real pride and satisfaction from the flow of positive feedback received from happy customers. They are so sure of their product they offer a money back guarantee.

“It’s a cauldron full of bubbly goodness!” said Annabel.

“I’ve had professional apple growers say our apples grown with Food2Soil are unbelievably good – couldn’t believe they weren’t commercial.”
