Over 28,150 cups of coffee, 1,820kg of food waste, and 3,458kg of CO2 emissions saved from being dumped in landfill and polluting our atmosphere. Thatโs Food2Soilโs environmental legacy so far โ and theyโve only just begun.
A Canberra-based, female-owned business, Food2Soilโs core mission is to honour the Earth and to be part of the solution for a better future โ for their children and all generations to come.
Owners Josie and Annabel affectionately call their organic food waste fertiliser a โkombucha for plants and soilโ and a better alternative to just seaweed. Itโs lovingly brewed in their fit for purpose โbrewhausโ to help reduce food waste to landfill and to combat climate change.
Now available to purchase at the local IGA supermarket in Chapman, Food2Soil is a great locally-owned business with a stellar product to boot! Thereโs no need to continue purchasing the same old soil products youโve always used when thereโs a local, ingenious, and sustainable solution right on your doorstep.
Founded by a dietitian and an ex-chef, Food2Soil understands the enormity of the food waste problem plaguing our world and are taking up the fight, one brew at a time.
โWe both love good food, and we love enjoying our food and seeing it nourish our families. So, to see it wastedโฆ really stings,โ said Josie.
Discovering each other purely by chance, the two entrepreneurs took a leap of faith to launch their environmental business together, which is about to celebrate its second birthday.
โWe use food and coffee waste from cafรฉs to create our biofertiliser. We use the ancient practice of fermentation, not composting, and brew up a microbially live product. Most products on the market arenโt alive with beneficial microbes, ours is, and when you feed them to the soil, it helps plants absorb nutrients. Itโs a better alternative to seaweed extracts, in so many ways. Plants just love it!โ explained Annabel.
โWe are big into giving back to the Earth, as well as this being a movement โ not just a product. We even use upcycled equipment; for example, our vats are from the dairy industry. What we are doing is a solution for climate change. If you support our business, youโre investing in a small piece that will go towards the bigger puzzle of change.โ
Not only is Josie and Annabelโs business sustainable and environmentally friendly, but theyโre donating part of their profits to Greening Australia who aim to plant 500 million trees across the country by 2030.
With proven, evidence-based results, Food2Soil is purely organic. They take real pride and satisfaction from the flow of positive feedback received from happy customers. They are so sure of their product they offer a money back guarantee.
โItโs a cauldron full of bubbly goodness!โ said Annabel.
โIโve had professional apple growers say our apples grown with Food2Soil are unbelievably good โ couldnโt believe they werenโt commercial.โ
