Forrest man caught drink driving almost 8 times over the limit

A 55-year-old Forrest man has had his licence immediately suspended and will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court after returning a blood alcohol content reading almost eight times over the legal limit.

About 10:20am on Saturday 8 June, a black Audi SUV was travelling south along Adelaide Avenue and Yamba Drive before crashing off the road at the roundabout with Melrose Drive in Hughes.

Police attended the scene and spoke with the driver who appeared to be heavily intoxicated. The man was transported to hospital and provided a blood sample for testing which later returned a result of 0.392.

Police later issued the man with an immediate suspension notice and he will be summonsed to court to face a high range drink driving charge at a later date.

Additional evidence was provided to ACT Policing after a member of the public submitted footage of the Audi SUV driving erratically on the morning prior to the collision via the Dangerous Driving online submission form.
