A 39-year-old Turner man has been charged following a road rage incident on the Majura Parkway on Sunday that was caught on camera and went viral on social media.
About 5.40pm on Sunday 17 September, the driver of a white Toyota Hilux allegedly began tailgating and intimidating another vehicle along Majura Parkway. The driver of the Hilux then allegedly proceeded to cut the other vehicle off, and brake check them, before stopping abruptly in a left turn lane blocking any other vehicle from passing.
The video ends after the man stops in front of the group at the turn-off to Well Station Drive off of Horse Park Drive, before the group pulls onto the footpath to go around him.
During the video, a young woman in the car being chased can be heard describing the raging man.
“He’s quite old, probably in his like fifties. He’s got short hair. He’s a white male. He’s got a very round face.”
Last night, general duties officers in Gungahlin attended an address in Turner and arrested the man. He was charged with furious driving and driving with a suspended licence. He is scheduled to appear in court on 4 October 2023.
Anyone who witnessed this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or on the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference number 7540479.
