A special night has been organised for local kindergarten teacher Rowena Ianna, who has been diagnosed with terminal lymph node cancer.
The event in Chifley on Tuesday 20 nvember will raise money for Rowena to help her and her family see some of their final wishes come true, such as one last family holiday, in the limited time they have left.
In 2016, Rowena Ianna and husband Trevor were seeing their son Baxton settle into preschool, and had welcomed their daughter London into the family.
Rowena’s life was turned upside down just six months after the birth of her daughter when she found a cancerous lump under her arm. Since this diagnosis two years ago, Rowena has undergone multiple rounds of chemo, surgery and reconstructive procedures to remove four tumours; two in her arm and two in her left breast.
When it looked as though the coast was clear, Rowena was diagnosed with a brain tumour, followed by cancer of the lymph nodes; inoperable and terminal.
Everyone is welcome to come along to the event and support Rowena, who has “given her all in the last year of her professional life” at Torrens Primary School.
Various businesses will be providing support for the evening, and the Torrens Primary School choir will be performing for their much-loved teacher along with Amber Nichols, a contender on The Voice in 2015.
A Bite to Eat Chifley, Virgin Australia, Elite Event Technology, Genplus and Heart Story Photography are all providing support. To provide business support, contact Shahana McKenzie on [email protected] or 0439 555 764
