GIO extends Canberra Stadium naming rights sponsorship

Insurer GIO has signed on for a further four years as the naming rights sponsor of Canberra Stadium.

The Territory first partnered with GIO in 2013; today, GIO has confirmed its support until 2026.

“The GIO naming rights sponsorship has provided significant support for the stadium, our sporting teams, and the broader community,” said Yvette Berry, ACT Minister for Sport and Recreation. “I am delighted to further strengthen our partnership with GIO over the coming four years.”

GIO has supported the stadium for eight seasons. Home teams the Canberra Raiders and Brumbies have played around 220 games of rugby league and union at the ground.

GIO Stadium Canberra has also hosted many international sporting events, concerts, plays, and local community events such as Stadium Golf, now in its third year.

“The extension of this partnership comes at an exciting time for Canberra’s sports lovers with the Brumbies and the Brumbies Super W teams both kicking off their seasons,” Ms Berry said.

The Canberra Raiders line up against the Sharks at GIO Stadium Canberra tonight.

“This agreement with GIO will enable us to continue to showcase great sport and events at GIO Stadium Canberra,” Ms Berry said.

Matt Pearson, GIO Executive General Manager, said the renewed naming rights of Canberra’s premier sporting venue demonstrates GIO’s ongoing commitment to the ACT community.

“We are incredibly proud to be extending our partnership with GIO Stadium. We’ve seen locals and visitors share many memorable moments at this iconic venue, and we look forward to more in the future,” Mr Pearson said.
