Googong man on bail facing court for multiple driving offences

A 30-year-old man from Googong, NSW, who was subject to bail conditions which included an 8pm curfew and prevented him from driving, will face court today charged in relation to a collision in Garran.

About 1.45am on Sunday 1 January, ACT Policing officers observed a white Honda Civic sedan parked near the Mawson shops.

Upon sighting police, it is alleged the vehicle was driven away at a speed estimated to be 120km/h in the 60km/h zone up Heard Street, and then onto Mawson Drive.

Police did not engage in a pursuit of the vehicle, however, a short time later came across the same vehicle which had crashed into a guard rail while attempting to turn left from Yamba Drive onto Hindmarsh Drive.

The 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with reckless driving, negligent driving, driving while suspended, and breach of bail.
