A 38-year-old Greenway man has been charged with burglary and going equipped for theft at the ACT Magistrates Court today, Monday 10 January, after being arrested in Curtin yesterday.
He was reported by a resident of a unit complex in Strangways St at around 5.15am on Sunday 9 January for acting suspiciously and stealing items from basement storage cages.
Members from Woden Police station attended the scene and observed the man discard several items as he left the complex and attempted to hide behind a bin at a nearby services station.
He was apprehended while attempting to flee, and Police located the allegedly stolen items in the bin along with a crowbar, torch, and gloves.
The man was taken into custody and placed under arrest and Police have confirmed several storage cages and a vehicle had been broken into.
Police also confirm that power tools along with an electric bicycle were stolen after further enquiries with residents of the complex.
