GIVIT donation of the week: Bike mechanics

GIVIT has been working with our community to re-home pre-loved bikes for those who need them most. GIVIT is looking for some handy bike enthusiasts to help repair and maintain bicycles for community organisations across the region. GIVIT will donate tools and materials to support with this volunteer service. The bikes will then make their way to recipients ranging from refugee families, youth overcoming mental health issues and addiction, community bike lending programs and those experiencing financial hardship. Anyone with bike repair skills and knowledge who is willing to volunteer a few hours would be greatly appreciated. To donate, visit givit.org.au/donate-items, search by category “Service” to view requests located in your area. After you pledge your help, you will be contacted by the relevant organisation.

Adamas Nexus meetings

Adamas Nexus is a bi-monthly self-help support group for women who have survived domestic violence and abuse and are looking for ongoing support through the rest of their lives. This is a non-facilitated group; there is no advice, counselling or guidance provided during the meetings. The program provides connections and support needed to help women regain their inner power and worthiness to go forward in life and thrive. This group is complementary to any support services that may already be in place for abuse survivors. Potential attendees are first screened to ensure that they are ready to attend the meetings, otherwise they are referred to crisis support services. Meetings are currently online on the first Monday of each month in a central location. There is no cost to attend. Details at www.adamasnexus.com under the ‘meetings’ tab.
