Bold Bandannas charity stall

Relay for Life Team, the Bold Bandannas, will hold a Charity Stall at the Belconnen Fresh Food Markets on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 March 8am-5pm. There will be: homemade jams, pickles, chutney, lemon butter, sugar reduced preserves; a range of hand sewn items, including children’s dress-up clothes, hand knitted dolls’ clothes, crocheted hand towels, and knitted and lace coathangers; plants and worm juice for plants; and patchwork bags and knee/cot rugs. GIVIT donation of the week: home furnishings

GIVIT works with many organisations that aid housing transitions. There are multiple requests for home furnishing items across the region, such as: a dining suite for an Indigenous family of eight who have experienced significant trauma; whitegoods for an elderly woman who has been homeless for years; and tall boys for a mother of two who is working to set up a peaceful family home after experiencing family violence and health issues. Your donation of a quality pre-loved item will fill an urgent need in your community. To donate, visit givit.org.au/donate-items, search by category “Furniture (or) Whitegoods” in your local area. After you pledge the item, you will be contacted by the relevant organisation to arrange pick-up, post or drop-off.

Anglicare Retail in Erindale

The first weekend of every month, Anglicare Retail in Erindale only will offer specials. On Friday 5 March 10am-4.30pm and Saturday 6 March 10am-2pm all books and DVDs will be 50% off. Located just outside the Erindale Centre in Grattan Court.

Red Dove pre-loved clothing

An auditorium full of great bargains in clothing, linen, bric-a-brac, books and DVDs from Thursday to Saturday 4-6 March and 8-10 April 9am-1pm at Tuggeranong Uniting Church, Comrie Street, Wanniassa, opposite the Erindale Centre.

Calvary Hospital Auxiliary

Calvary Hospital Auxiliary will hold three major fundraising events in March. Plant stalls on Thursday 11 March 8am-4pm at Jamison Centre, and on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March 8am-5pm at Belconnen Markets. A wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants, herbs, succulents and natives at bargain prices. Craft stall on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 March 8am-5pm at Belconnen Markets. Homemade cakes, jams, pickles, knitted goods, gifts and more. All proceeds go towards buying equipment for the care and comfort of Calvary Public Hospital patients.

Friends of Ireland

Friends of Ireland will hold an interfaith/ecumenical service to celebrate St Patrick on Saturday 13 March 12pm at the Australian Centre for Christianity and Culture, 15 Blackall St, Barton. Guest speaker is Regina Neary, mental health practitioner and advocate. Irish pipes and music will form part of the service and a light afternoon tea will be provided. Joyful Moments Sing-along

Community Services #1 and Canberra Men’s Choir Ensemble present a Joyful Moments Sing-along on Monday 15 March 11am-12.30pm. Open to anyone in the community. Cost: $5. Belconnen Cats Juniors gala day

The Belconnen Cats Junior Australian Football Club is a community focused club aimed at providing a safe and encouraging environment for children to learn and enjoy the spirit of sport and the skills of Aussie Rules football. Gala Day Sunday 14 March 10am-12pm at Aranda Oval, Banambila Street. The club recycles boots, shorts, hoodies, training tops, etc., so bring any on the day and trade. Season starts Saturday 24 April. Make-A-Wish on a Wishmaker Star

Due to the impacts of COVID-19, Make-A-Wish Australia now has more than 800 critically ill children waiting for a wish. To help make these wishes come true, Aussies can donate to Make-A-Wish by purchasing Wishmaker Stars ($1, $2 and $5) at Hungry Jack’s restaurants and digital channels until 8 March.
