Brad Hardy Foundation Walk 2023

A charity walk will be held in memory of fallen AFP officer Brad Hardy, who died aged 23, and in support of Run4Blue on Saturday 27 May 10am at Kings Park, Lake Burley Griffin. Before the walk, a relay between AFP Officers, AFP Protective Service Officers, AFP recruits and a Brad Hardy team will be held at 9.30am. GIVIT seeks a heater

GIVIT is calling for the donation of a heater for a man who has finally been granted a home in the ACT. This man has been sleeping rough for five years whilst on a waitlist for housing. An organisation in the ACT is helping him to furnish his new one-bedroom home. This man has struggled with mental health challenges and addiction and has worked hard to turn his life around. With winter coming, he could use a heater to stay warm and comfortable as he begins his new life. Kippax Uniting Church Market Place

Our next Market Place is on Saturday 20 May 9am-1pm at Kippax Uniting Church, Luke St, Holt. There will be individual stall holders selling their unique crafts, plus pre-loved puzzles, games, art, White Elephant goodies, a sausage sizzle and morning tea.

Folk Dance Canberra

Orfeevi Ritmi presents ’Rhythms of Orfeus’. Experience wild rhythms, exotic melodies and bold singing, blending ancient traditions with modern musical idioms at Folk Dance Canberra Hall, 114 Maitland Street, Hackett on Sunday 28 May 2.30-4.30pm. Kangara Waters Winter Warmers Charity Sale

This year’s Winter Warmers Charity Sale at Kangara Waters Retirement Village, 2 Joy Cummings Place, Belconnen will be held on Saturday 27 May 8.30am-12.30pm. Tables will overflow with beautiful hand-knitted scarves and beanies of every colour, many priced at $5 each. There will also be gloves, hats, jumpers and cardigans for adults and children, recycled quality jackets and knits, and warm handmade winter throws. All cash from the sale will be directed through the Red Cross to Ukraine. Cash and card payments accepted.

The Nappy Collective

Australia’s only not-for-profit solely focused on collecting and redistributing nappies to families in crisis, The Nappy Collective needs 350,000 nappies this May to help curb nappy stress. Right now in Australia, one in 10 families can’t afford the nappies they need for their babies. Until 21 May, over 500 collection points around Australia, including early learning centres, maternal health centres, major retailers and small businesses, are open to accept donations of new or leftover disposable nappies.
