Have you heard? CSCC helps those in need

CSCC helps those in need

The Canberra Southern Cross Club has launched a ‘Job Saver’ program to support its staff on international visas who are ineligible for JobKeeper assistance. By doing so, the club has been able to increase its support of the Vinnies Night Patrol, now providing over 500 meals per week to the service. The Club has supported the Night Patrol for over 20 years. The provision of additional meals from the Club’s Woden kitchen started from Monday 20 April and will continue until further notice. The Club is also offering a takeaway and home delivery service at Woden, Tuggeranong, Jamison and Yacht Club. Further details are available at cscc.com.au

GIVIT donation of the week: Exercise equipment

A local organisation supporting individuals living with intellectual disability is in need of exercise equipment for their clients. The service is set up with group home facilities so equipment can be shared with multiple clients who are living under the same roof. They are looking for anything such as a treadmill, exercise bike, rowing machine, hand weights or other fitness tools. Typically the organisation would support outings and social fitness; however, due to the COVID-19 restrictions, their clients have been mostly indoors. Any good quality, pre-loved equipment you can donate will make a huge difference to the lives of those who are trying to remain happy and healthy during these tumultuous times. Items can be dropped-off or pick-up by the charity. To donate, visit givit.org.au/items-needed, search ‘exercise equipment’ and select requests located in ACT. After you pledge the item, you will be contacted by the relevant charity to arrange pick-up, post or drop-off. GIVIT supports over 300 charities across the Capital Region by matching your quality, pre-loved items with people who need them most.
