Have you heard? Daffodil Day Appeal

Daffodil Day Appeal

This month, Cancer Council ACT is asking the Canberra community to raise more than hope by donating a virtual daffodil online or by hosting a Daffodil Yellow Fundraiser for HOPE. While Daffodil Day’s official day is Friday 28 August, you can choose any day in August to donate or host your fundraiser. Your support will allow Cancer Council ACT to continue to fund life-saving cancer research right here in the ACT, working towards their vision of a cancer-free future. Register today at daffodilday.com.au and invite your family, friends, neighbours or work colleagues to come together to raise funds that can help save the life of someone you love.

RSPCA Cupcake Day

Last year, Cupcake Day hosts raised $63,230 for the many animals in need across the ACT. That money helped those animals access emergency surgery, helped rescue them from horrific cruelty and helped find them a brand-new, loving home. This year, thousands more furry faces, waggy tails and fluttery wings need your baking (and fundraising) skills more than ever. With safety precautions still in mind, the RSPCA ACT would love you to join them for a socially safe and physically distanced Cupcake Day to remember. Go to rspcacupcakeday.com.au to sign up and let your guests know which date in October you’d like to celebrate. While the official day is 26 October, you can celebrate at any time throughout the month!

GIVIT donation of the week: Vacuum cleaners

A number of organisations within the Capital Region who support our community’s most vulnerable are looking for pre-loved vacuum cleaners to go to very appreciative homes. One thing that most of us would take for granted is the ability to keep our homes clean to maintain a level of health and personal dignity. For those who have overcome challenges such as mental health issues, addiction, domestic violence or homelessness, having a roof over their head is the first step to moving forward in shaping a new life. The next step is being able to fill the home with those essential items which will promote their ongoing mental and physical health. Your generous donation of a good quality vacuum cleaner will bring a level of pride and enjoyment to these individuals/ families’ new homes. Donations can be collected by or delivered to the organisation. To donate, visit givit.org.au/donate-items, search ‘Vacuum Cleaner’ to view requests located in ACT. After you pledge the item, you will be contacted by the relevant organisation to arrange pick-up, post or drop-off.
