GIVIT donation of the week: DVD player and sound system

One of GIVIT’s registered charities is working hard to create a refuge that not only provides a warm, safe place for homeless men to sleep, but also an environment for relaxation, connection and dignity. The all-male crisis accommodation facility was established last year and has helped over 100 men avoid sleeping out in the cold over the past two Canberra winters. The facility provides short-term respite with a warm private room, access to a shower, hot meals, and a communal lounge. The organisation is seeking a DVD player and sound system, which they can set up in the communal area, for fun movie nights to bring the men together. Any pre-loved, good quality items that can be donated would be greatly appreciated. To donate, visit givit.org.au/whats-needed, search by “Music and Entertainment” within the ACT. After you pledge the item, you will be contacted by the relevant organisation to arrange pick-up, post or drop-off. GIVIT supports more than 400 charities and community groups across the Capital Region by matching your items with people who need them most.
