Picnic for Pinnacle
From 6 to 21 February, The Pinnacle Foundation will be encouraging Aussies to help educate and empower young LGTBIQ+ Australians to achieve their full potential by hosting and attending a Picnic for Pinnacle event. Picnic for Pinnacle is a fun-in-the-sun picnic that encourages friends, family and workplaces to raise much-needed funds for young LGTBIQ+ Australians who have been disadvantaged because of the way they identify to reclaim their path. To host your own Picnic for Pinnacle, gather your friends, colleagues or family, visit your local deli, grab a picnic blanket and head down to your local park. If you need some inspiration, the Pinnacle foundation has put together some pages with ideas for those hosting their picnic at work or home along with a picnic recipe cheat sheet. Showcase your picnic across socials throughout the day. Take photos of your picnic and post them on Instagram and tag @pinnaclefoundation using the hashtag #PicnicForPinnacle for the chance to win prizes. Register your picnic and encourage attendees to donate on the Picnic for Pinnacle Foundation website. Canberra Jung Society
Dr Rajiv Singh will be ‘Exploring the Sacred, Dialogue Space for the Emergence of Healing’ at the Canberra Jung Society meeting on Friday 5 February from 7.30pm for supper, music, library and chat. Charity stall
Relay for Life Team, the Bold Bandannas, will hold a charity stall at Belconnen Fresh Food Markets on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 February 8am-5pm. There will be: homemade jams, pickles, chutney, lemon butter, sugar reduced preserves; a range of handsewn items, including children’s dress-up clothes, hand knitted dolls’ clothes, crocheted hand towels, and knitted and lace coathangers; plants and worm juice for your plants; and patchwork bags and knee/cot rugs. Gift of Life launches 2021 DonateLife Walk
Gift of Life’s annual DonateLife Walk raises awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation and registration. Over the past 15 years, the Walk has been held as a mass-participation event around Lake Burley Griffin. However, the 2021 event will be virtual. Gift of Life is asking participants to sign up online and walk up to 5km anytime, anywhere during the week 22-28 February. Participants are encouraged to gather a small group and share their Walk photos and videos on social media. Gungahlin Community Sports and Recreation Fair
Northside Community Service and over 20 Gungahlin sporting and recreation clubs will host the fourth Gungahlin Community Sports and Recreation Fair at Amaroo Oval on Friday 12 February 3.30-7.30pm. The fair will provide the opportunity for local sporting organisations to showcase their programs for families and community members. Interactive showcases include hockey, jump-rope, Aussie rules football, rugby league, touch football, Tae Kwan Do, Aus-Tag, Ultimate Frisbee, Little Athletics, Senior Athletics, BMX racing, and more. National Pet Adoption Month
Throughout March, PETstock Assist will celebrate its inaugural National Pet Adoption Month as an extension of its annual initiative National Pet Adoption Day, to help change the lives of rescue pets and humans in an effort to help break the cycle of pet homelessness in Australia. Over the past six years, PETstock Assist has helped rehome more than 12,000 animals through its initiative and changed perceptions and behaviour on pet adoption in Australia by providing much needed education on the topic.
