GIVIT donation of the week: Gardening tools
Heading to the one-year anniversary of the black summer bushfires, communities are optimistically looking to the future and finding ways to bring tourism and life back to their small towns. One community in the greater capital region has the opportunity to re-create their local creek scape which was destroyed in the fires and is now overgrown with weeds and blueberry bushes. A support organisation is looking to partner with a youth group to clear and revitalise the natural space. They are in need of any secondhand, good condition gardening tools including shovels, wheelbarrows, gardening gloves, pickaxes, pruning shears and trowels. With the aid of these tools, this community can create something that will bring hope and joy after an extremely devastating year. Donations can be picked up by or posted to the organisation. To donate, visit givit.org.au/donate-items, search by category “Gardening Tools” to view requests located in your area (select 100km range from your postcode if based in Canberra). After you pledge the item, you will be contacted by the relevant organisation to arrange pick-up, post or drop-off. GIVIT supports more than 350 charities and community groups across the Capital Region by matching your items with people who need them most.
