White Shirt Campaign
2020 marks Witchery’s 12th annual White Shirt Campaign in partnership with the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF). The White Shirt Campaign’s mission is to raise funds to support vital research to develop an early detection test for ovarian cancer as readily available and habitual as a pap smear or mammogram. For every White Shirt sold, Witchery will donate 100% of the gross proceeds to the OCRF. The White Cotton Shirt will be available online at witchery.com.au from Wednesday 6 May.
GIVIT donation of the week: Bunk bed
A local charity that assists families and individuals on the journey from homelessness to living stability is in need of a bunk bed for some of their clients. A family of 10 people has recently been able to secure a home large enough for everyone to live together under the same roof. The charity is helping them source furnishings to create a comfortable and long-lasting home for the adults and children. The family needs a bunk bed, preferably with a double bed on the bottom and a single bed on top to accommodate children of different ages. Items can be dropped off to or picked up by the charity. To donate, visit givit.org.au/items-needed, search ‘bunk bed’ and select requests located in ACT. After you pledge the item, you will be contacted by the relevant charity to arrange pick-up, post or drop-off. GIVIT supports over 300 charities across the Capital Region by matching your quality, pre-loved items with people who need them most.
The gift of support
This Mother’s Day, show your support for Molonglo Support Services and purchase a fundraising card to help raise much needed funds. Donations will assist Molonglo Support Services to reduce harm arising from domestic and family violence and homelessness by providing holistic intervention, outreach, crisis and court advocacy support services. To donate or for more information, visit molonglo.net.au or find them on Facebook.
MDC collaboration
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, the Mother’s Day Classic (MDC) is now running as a virtual interactive event offering supporters and the broader community the opportunity to participate in a virtual challenge. Registered participants gain access to an exclusive array of interactive content to become a part of something big and contribute to making a real difference. The MDC is working with Vision Australia Radio to deliver a two-hour broadcast on Mother’s Day, 10 May, to unite the community and help raise awareness and funds for life-changing breast cancer research.
