Woolworths supports Variety
In the lead up to Halloween, Woolworths and Variety the Children’s Charity are inviting Canberra customers to support sick and disadvantaged children across the ACT. With the financial impact of COVID-19 continuing to affect charities across Australia, Woolworths customers can purchase a $2 wall token with 100% of funds raised supporting children in need. All funds raised for the Halloween fundraising appeal will assist Variety in their ongoing efforts to support children across ACT and NSW, who are facing challenging times as a result of illness, disadvantage or living with a disability. This year, while shopping for their pumpkins, costumes and decorations for Halloween celebrations at home, Woolies is encouraging customers who are able to support other children and their families in ACT, to make a charity donation or add a Halloween token to their shop. The campaign will run through to 31 October in Woolworths stores across Australia.
GIVIT donation of the week: FJ Holden ute parts
A year ago, a mature couple nearing retirement lived a completely different life than the reality they face today. Residing on a rural property in one of the worst hit regions in the Black Summer fires, this couple bravely fought to save their home, but in the end lost much more than just their life’s belongings. They were left with only a single item intact, a double canoe, which was stolen by looters only days after the blaze. As avid collectors, the items lost were dear to their heart, from family heirlooms to rare collectables. The gentleman is a car and motorbike enthusiast, who would spend his free time enjoying swap meets, searching for genuine accessories for his beloved projects. He is currently working to restore his FJ Holden ute. Anyone who has spare parts, even a bench seat, which can contribute to this project will help a fellow collector gain a sense of pride and heal his heart after such a devastating loss. Donations can be delivered or posted to the organisation. After you pledge the item, you will be contacted by the relevant organisation to arrange pick-up, post or drop-off. Wallington Market Day
On Saturday 24 October 10am-2pm, Wallington Village (85 Bangalay Cres, Rivett) will be holding a Market Day at their community house at No 60. Come and do some Christmas shopping, there will be a large verity of great craft items, baked goods, lots of plants, trash and treasure and a sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome.
Market in Tarago
The Craft, Art, Produce Seasonal (CAPS) Market in Tarago is planned for Saturday 31 October 9am- 2pm at the Tarago Town Hall, Wallace Street, Tarago NSW. This will depend on the latest COVID-19 advice and may be cancelled at the last minute. COVID-19 regulations will apply. Stallholder items may include: antiques, artwork, bags, books, candles, cards, calligraphic items, cider, collectables, crocheted items, cupcakes, cushions, free range eggs, fruit and vegetables, greeting cards, hats, herbs, honey, horseshoe artworks, jams, jewellery, knitwear, lavender products, leatherwork, metalwork, olive oil products, paper crafts, plants, preserves, photography, quilts, recipe books, recycled pallet signs, second hand goods, shrubs, soaps, succulents, trees, Tupperware, wine, and woodwork. There will be a community organisation run café with homemade food in the hall, and a coffee van outside. A second-hand row will have good quality collectables and antiques. Sunday 1 November 9am-1pm at Harmonie German Club, Jerrabomberra Avenue, Narrabundah. Great food, music and vinyl records 1950s to 1980s of Black American music.
Boorowa community market
They’re back! – and just in time to start Christmas shopping! The Boorowa Rotary Community Makers and Growers Market is going back into full swing from Saturday 24 October 9am-1pm. After closing for a while due to COVID-19, Boorowa Rotary has now been given clearance to re-open the market for the community. The market will be held in the Old Court House grounds on the corner of Marsden and Queen Streets, Boorowa NSW. There will be food, craft and products grown, made and prepared by local people. During the closure, a new marquee and new tables have been purchased to be used by Rotary for the sausage sandwiches and the drinks available at the market. Many of the other stall holders are glad to be able to come back and offer their wares for sale.
