Heritage grants focus on online, residential dwellings

Applications for the 2020-21 ACT Heritage Grants Program are now open, targeting projects that will “move Canberra’s history online”.

“This year we’re asking for proposals that are developed in line with current social distancing requirements,” said ACT Environment and Heritage Minister Mick Gentleman. “This could include projects to bring our heritage to life in new ways like online resources and virtual visitation as well as restoration works to residential premises.”

The program will see $355,000 available, with priorities including: conservation works, particularly for residential dwellings; community projects that increase awareness and engagement with heritage places, especially those add advanced content to the Augment Reality Canberra Tracks app; Aboriginal projects initiated by or involving the local Aboriginal community; and projects that include partnerships with community organisations and ACT Government agencies.

Applications for the grants close Friday 12 June. For more information or to apply, visit environment.act.gov.au/heritage or call 13 22 81.
