It has been a long-held belief that Australians are lucky to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. A new study has all but confirmed this theory by citing three of our attractions in the top ten underrated travel experiences worldwide, with one being right on Canberra’s doorstop.
Bungonia National Park is a short 90-minute drive from the National Capital and claimed the third spot in the list curated by Explore Worldwide, an adventure tour operator. To uncover the best hidden gems, they set out on a mission to study over 350 destinations from more than 130 countries that they believe don’t receive enough praise or visitors.
Taking out the top spot was experiencing the breathtaking views of the Schafberg Peak Hike in Salzberg, Austria. Second place was a tour of Sable Island in Canada, usually visited by the most daring of explorers as you land by plane on the beach before you’re greeted by a herd of wild horses. Â
Bungonia National Park made the list for its striking views, tall trees, and crystal clear waters, being noted as a must visit for anyone passing through the region.Â
One of our other homegrown attractions to make the list took seventh place was the Melbourne Dumpling Walking Tour, the perfect foodie walkthrough of Victoria’s Chinatown with plenty of snack stops.
Rounding out the top ten in the final position was Northern Territory’s Keep River National Park. The list mentions the park receives fewer visitors than most in Australia but hosts some of the most beautiful red rock outcrops and First Nations Rock Art.
