Holey Moley and Hijinx Hotel coming to Canberra

After such success across Australia, Funlab’s beloved venues, Holey Moley and Hijinx Hotel, are making their debut in Canberra, opening in the Canberra Centre on 5 April.

The two venues will include four function rooms, karaoke, two themed bars, 18 holes of mini-golf and 15 Hijinx Hotel immersive quick-play rooms.

Canberran’s will also have a first look at never-before-seen mini golf holes and Hijinx Hotel rooms, which are launching for the first time in the entertainment precinct.

Hijinx Hotel

Following the roaring success across Australia, comes Hijinx Hotel. From the moment guests arrive, Hijinx Hotel looks like a frenzied, fantastical, instagramable experience. This is no ordinary hotel, it’s where you play, not stay. Instead of living it up for a night, guests will be able to experience quick play immersive rooms that combine the theatre and wonder of a quirky New York hotel, and the whimsical delight reminiscent of Willy Wonka meets Wes Anderson, within what seems like fifteen hotel rooms.

Each room draws from nostalgia and is uniquely designed for between two and six players to work together to complete challenges in a four-minute window to score points on a leaderboard. Hijinx Hotel favourites: Adore-a-ball Pool, Scrambled, Poke the Dot, and Candy Ball Pool, will all be making an appearance, along with four brand new rooms just for Canberra: Clawesome, Zig-a-zag ah Ball Pool, Abandoned Arcade, and Basket Ballers.

When the challenges are complete, guests can make their way to the bar onsite to enjoy the Instagram-worthy cocktails like Bubble and Pop, or experience all the classics with a selection of non-alcoholic options and food items.

Holey Moley

No ifs, just putts – Holey Moley is a mini golf course that turns traditional putt putt into a multi-sensory labyrinth of unique holes. It’s nifty, nostalgic, a bit 80s, and a bit 90s. Each hole is themed around pop-culture and nostalgia and is paired with dim lights, pumping tunes, delicious eats and quirky drinks, a vibe that is sure to get the friendly competition flowing.

At Canberra’s new Holey Moley visitors can putt their stuff around 18 holes including favourites 742 Evergreen Terrace and Moon & Pars. The venue will also debut three new holes exclusively tailored for Canberra: Look for the Bear necessiTEES, Wheel of FORE-tune, and You Wanna Pizza Me.

Win or lose, the fun doesn’t stop with mini golf, as guests can enjoy a drink at the renowned Caddyshack bar, a nostalgic 80s and 90s themed bar with signature cocktails and eats, perfect for all off-the-green needs.

Funlab CEO Michael Schreiber said the venue is designed to be a go-to that is beyond the typical bar, pub or restaurant experience, and is perfect for all-ages.

“We’re thrilled to bring our wondrous world of fun to Canberrans, where everyone can enjoy some healthy competitive socialising with friends, dates, colleagues, and families.

“At Funlab we’re passionate about creating spaces where people can let loose and experience the joy they had as a kid in the playground, as an adult. We combine competitiveness, fun, delicious eats and unique cocktails with a theatrical and immersive environment – a fun-filled experience like no other.

“To really tailor our venues to the Canberra market we’ve also created new Holey Moley holes and Hijinx Hotel rooms, opening for the first time in Canberra. We’re also looking to welcome 80 Motherfunners (Funlab staff) to join our team, for a true mix of work and fun!” Mr Schreiber said.

General Manager of Canberra Centre Gary Stewart said he’s excited for the launch of Holey Moley and Hijinx Hotel, providing a new experience for Canberrans and tourists alike.

“The addition of Holey Moley and Hijinx Hotel continues to elevate the experiential offers available to our customers with first to market experiences available at their doorstep,” Mr Stewart said.

Pre-bookings now open.
