The NRL have issued breach notices to Canberra Raiders players Corey Horsburgh and Corey Harawira-Naera after separate drink-driving offences over the Christmas holiday period.
Horsburgh has been offered a one-match suspension and a $5,000 fine which is suspended for 12 months. He must also partake in an education program.
Harawira-Naera is facing a mid-range drink-driving charge and has been offered a two-game ban with a $10,000 fine and must also do an education program. The NRL also took into account prior offences by Harawira-Naera, including the infamous schoolgirl scandal which saw him leave the Canterbury Bulldogs last season.
Horsburgh faced court last month for low-range drink-driving and was given a criminal conviction, disqualified from driving for three months and slapped with a $500 fine.
Harawira-Naera is set to face court on 25 March.
The suspensions mean both Horsburgh and Harawira-Naera will miss the Raiders round one match against the Wests Tigers at GIO Stadium on Sunday, 14 March.
Harawira-Naera will also be unavailable for the Raiders round two clash with the Cronulla Sharks at Netstrate Jubilee Stadium on Sunday 21 March.
Horsburgh featured in the Raiders two trial matches last weekend where he was placed on report twice but given the all clear. Harawira-Naera did not play in either trial.
With the Raiders boasting plenty of depth in the forwards this season, both men may find it difficult to force their way back into the side.
