UPDATE (Monday 3 June): An 86-year-old man will be charged with murder at bedside hearing later today, 3 June, after his wife, a 78-year-old woman, was located deceased at a residence in Gordon yesterday.
A 78-year-old woman has been located deceased in a home in Gordon early this morning. Â
Police were called to a Gordon residence to check on the welfare of the woman at about 7.25am this morning, Sunday 2 June.
Upon arrival, officers located the 78-year-old woman inside the home and she was formally declared deceased by ACT Ambulance Service paramedics.
A short time later, a 86-year-old man (the husband of the deceased woman) was arrested at a Fadden residence. The man was transported to the Canberra Hospital for assessment.
At this time no charges have been laid. A crime scene has been established at the Gordon home and AFP Forensics officers have begun processing the scene.
