Iconic Hotels announce opening of Abode in Belconnen

Geocon’s hotel arm, Iconic Hotels, has announced a new Abode Hotel in Belconnen will open in September.

Located in Grazier Lane in the Belconnen Town Centre, the hotel will form part of Geocon’s Republic development precinct, with 152 self-contained apartment-style rooms.

The new hotel will also include the onsite No. 10 Restaurant and Bar, also owned and operated by Iconic Hotels. The original No. 10 is located within the Abode Hotel in Woden.

Iconic Hotels’ general manager, Rien Donkin, said the company remains positive about the future, despite record lows reported across the hotel industry over the past three months, due to COVID-19.

“The future remains strong for Iconic Hotels, with the development of more hotels and landmark destinations still very much in the pipeline,” he said.

“The impending opening of Abode Belconnen marks the first of many exciting milestones scheduled for the years to come.”

“Every hotel opening is worth celebrating,” said Geocon’s founder and managing director, Nick Georgalis, “but considering the extreme challenges the industry is currently facing, this particular milestone is all the more rewarding for everyone involved.”

Abode Belconnen will become the eighth hotel in the Abode portfolio – the sixth in Canberra, with two in NSW in Murrumbateman and Malua Bay – and the tenth hotel overall for Iconic Hotels.
