Indulge at Lumière Salon

Lumière is French for ‘light’, and stepping into the Lumière hair salon in Belconnen, you can see where it gets its name. With soft light flowing from the high windows and a colour palette of luxe neutrals, the salon is private, welcoming and calming – the ideal spot to indulge and treat yourself.

All services, which include cuts and colour for men and women, involve a consultation, pre-service massage and luxurious basin ritual and come under the salon’s unique gender-neutral pricing structure.

“We wanted a comfortable oasis for clients to escape to,” says co-owner Ashlee Bennetts, who has been hairdressing in Canberra for over 15 years.

“We offer a professional and friendly service for our clients for all of their hair needs.”

Ashlee, alongside her sister Abby Darmody, opened Lumière in September last year after a year of careful planning and preparation.

“We wanted to make the salon exclusive, but accessible,” Abby says. “There are a lot of high-end salons in the city, which is great, and we wanted to bring that into the North.”

“The team is all very knowledgeable. When clients come in, they can trust they’ll be looked after by a fully-qualified hair stylist with more than 10 years’ experience in the industry.”

The team are also experts in hair extensions, from temporary to permanent, with different options for different transformations and individual hair needs. The team use Great Lengths premium hair extensions – one of the world’s only traceable hair companies that ensures premium quality, ethical human hair extensions.

The Lumière team are proud to be doing their part for the environment, and as part of Sustainable Salons, work to reduce waste by recycling things such as hair (for ‘hair booms’ that clean up ocean oil spills ), aluminium foil and packaging – minimising the amount going to landfill.

They’ve also incorporated things like water-saving showerheads, and use the best, natural products for their clients’ treasured tresses, such as renowned Italian, carbon-neutral brand Davines.

“We wanted something sustainable, beautiful, natural and eco-friendly,” Abby says. “Hair health comes first.”
