The happy renovator

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) the value of residential alterations and additions has risen to the highest level in more than four years. ABS Building August approvals found the value of alterations and additions to residential buildings was up 7% to $784 million – the highest level since April 2016. The Happy Renovator author, Werine Erasmus, says many Australians are choosing to use their new-found downtime to start or finish renovation projects. “The problem with many renovators who attempt to complete projects in their ‘spare time’ is that they often don’t have any time to spare! However, the lockdown created the ideal conditions for many people to restart or finish their renovation projects.” Ms Erasmus believes renovations will keep growing in popularity as more people continue to work from home or perhaps move to part-time employment. “However, renovating property is something that can be a steep, and expensive, learning curve if people don’t understand all of the necessary ins and outs.”

Country Life supports country kids

Pental’s Country Life soap range will donate 5% of their net sales this summer to Australian children’s charity, Royal Far West. Country Life products has enjoyed significant uptake in sales since the coronavirus increased hand washing habits, so they want to give back during this challenging and uncertain time. Royal Far West is a 96-year-old not-for-profit that works closely with families, schools, allied health professionals and local communities to connect rural and remote Australian children with the health and developmental care they need.
