Keeley Richards re-signs with Canberra United

Canberra United has announced yet another re-signing this week, with goalkeeper Keeley Richards staying with the club for the 2021/22 W-League season.

The goalkeeper joined the club for the 2020/21 season, managing three clean sheets for the side, including in her debut against the Western Sydney Wanderers in Round 5.

Richards spent the off-season with Logan United in the Queensland NPLW, where she has made more than 100 appearances for the club over five seasons.

She is the second re-signing for United this week with midfielder Grace Maher also signing on for the 2021/22 season.

Richards said it was an easy decision to stick with Canberra for her second season in the W-League.

โ€œThe experience last year was incredible and the opportunity to continue to work with and learn from Chantel Jones and Vicki Linton was something I jumped at,โ€ Richards said.

โ€œThe culture of the club is like no other team I’ve been involved with and it’s a privilege to be a part of that again.โ€

Richards added sheโ€™s determined to go one better with the team this upcoming season.

โ€œGetting knocked out in the semi last year was tough, it would be amazing to be able to take it one step further this season.โ€

Head Coach Vicki Linton said sheโ€™s looking forward to seeing what Keeley can do in her second season of W-League.

โ€œIt is good to have Keeley back,โ€ Vicki said.

โ€œAfter making her debut last season I am sure she will be keen to get back into the environment, continue to develop and learn and build on her performance from last year.โ€
