Kylie Dennis joins Independent under new strategy

Former Nine Entertainment and Fairfax Media national sales director Kylie Dennis has been appointed group general manager of Independent Property Group.

Ms Dennis will take over the business operations this week, and her appointment comes as part of a management shakeup at the agency.

CEO John Runko is set to take on a part-time consulting role with the business, while managing director John Minns is leaving to explore new opportunities.

“Both John (Minns) and I know we are leaving the business in great hands and Independent is positioned for even greater success in the future,” said Mr Runko.

Ms Dennis has lived in Canberra for 20 years and said she has always considered Independent to be an “iconic” Canberra brand, and is “thrilled to be joining the team at such an exciting time”.

“We have some of the best and brightest in the business and we are able to offer our clients a premium end-to-end experience for all of their property needs.”

As well, Independent has announced a new board comprising the six major shareholders, each involved in running an aspect of the business; Wayne Harriden, Stan Platis, Paul Corazza, Mark Wolens, Grahame O’Brien and Chris Uren.

The agency has said it will also divest of its interests in Laing + Simmons NSW and other non-core business, using its 200-strong team to grow the company, focusing on established homes, project marketing and property management.

A recruitment campaign will be launched as part of the new strategy, hiring across all parts of the business.

As part of a shakeup of Independent management, a new executive leadership team has been announced: Wayne Harriden, Stan Platis, Paul Corazza, Mark Wolens, Grahame O’Brien and Chris Uren.
