COVID-19 has thrown charities and community groups a curve ball, forcing many organisations to get creative and adapt to continue their fundraising efforts and vital work.
One such group is the Stella Bella Little Stars Foundation, which has been unable to host their regular and much-needed fundraising events that support the group’s work with seriously ill children and their families in the region.
Enter the Stella Bella Lockdown Lip Sync Battle, a virtual fundraising event where “everyone gets to be the star”.
All you have to do is gather some friends (or go solo), and film and upload your own lip sync video for a chance to be crowned the ACT champion. Entry is $30 and includes an ‘at-home party pack’.
Stella Bella Little Stars Foundation founder and CEO, Suz Tunks, says the event is a chance for the community to get together and raise funds and awareness for the Foundation’s important work.
“Even though some restrictions are lifting, many vulnerable folk will still be isolated at home for the long term so it’s a great time to hold an event like this which brings everyone together in a virtual capacity, regardless of their medical status,” she said.
“No risk of COVID-19 transmission at this event!
“Anyone who has ever sung in the car or shower, danced around the house with the vacuum or played some wicked air guitar, will find this event easy and fun to participate in so we are hoping to inspire a lot of Canberrans to get involved.
“Make a lip sync video, have a load of fun and please help to make the Stella Bella Lockdown Lip Sync Battle a huge success!”
Entries open today, Sunday 24 May, and close Sunday 7 June. The top 20 entries will be selected for the grand final Zoom party on Saturday 13 June 7pm.
