Tucked away in Manuka Village is Nadine’s new Journey Home studio and store, where she spends her days drawing on her extensive expertise and resources to create, decorate, and design dream homes for Canberrans.

“If I could do anything in the world, it would be to fill Canberra’s suburbs with beautiful classic homes. But I am not an architect or town planner – I am just someone who is passionate about gorgeous homes,” Nadine smiles.

“What makes us stand apart as decorators are two things: our style leans to classic for modern living and we create a safe place for clients who don’t want harsh minimalist interiors, and we are old-school decorators,” Nadine explains.

“By old-school, I don’t mean nanna style,” she laughs. “I mean that our team carries decorating skill sets that are slowly disappearing.

“An old-school decorator doesn’t just pick stuff off the net and send you on your way; they are an expert in furniture, upholstery, soft furnishings, curtains, blinds, art … but more than this, they know how to pull it together and supply and deliver it to a client,” she says.

As Journey Home has expanded, so too have the services they provide to their clients. From creating design strategies to full-service custom decorating, and interior architecture projects to a recent extension, choose your own adventure.

“Not everyone wants a whole room or home transformed, so we created a choose your own adventure option, where clients can choose which part to get help with but still benefit from an old-school skill set,” Nadine says.

“It’s a new service designed to meet people where they’re at and for people not willing to decorate an entire room from scratch. I think it’s a little bit of a holistic design concept and it’s going to have better outcomes for people who, for example, can’t find the perfect lamp, don’t know which rug to choose in their dining room, need a new bedside table, or are downsizing and have too much stuff to fit into an apartment.

“It’s all about helping people who are stuck, who have ideas, but don’t know how to execute them. One phrase we always use is ‘we’re here to help you pull it together’.”

“We problem solve. If you can’t pull your space together, can’t find the right style, look or quality you’re looking for, we have the expertise and resources to help you.”

Journey Home specialises in timeless and classic design styling and creates ageless spaces that will endure for the next 10 or 20 years.

“We serve clients who are on their mission to make stylish transformations, to achieve their comfy and enduring forever home. Our clients are looking to stay long term and they have decided it’s their time to make their house feel like home, to decorate to suit their style or phase of life, ditch the make-do furnishings to make room for comfort, and be able to host family and friends both practically and beautifully,” Nadine says.

“Over the years, we have done a lot of design strategies for clients who have so many options on renovation and decorating projects to do that they just don’t know where to start. So, we create a road map so they can start to take action.

“A lot of clients say they looked online, but everyone else looked really minimal or too modern for them. The other thing is, we supply everything, know how to measure for soft furnishings, and we know how to deliver the whole thing to the client.

“We are coming at it from the approach of having a huge skill set in the background. We’re all about the delivery of the job, which makes us different.”

Nadine and her team at Journey Home are with you at every step of your decorating journey, making sure every detail is picture perfect.

“When doing full service, we don’t just do a consult and leave the client to their own devices – we deliver the room done,” she says.

“We’re there on the install day, supervising everything to make sure it goes smoothly, collecting pieces from our warehouse and delivering everything.”

When asked what inspires her passion for helping others realise their interior home vision, she says it’s important to live in a home that is complete.

“Not everyone has lived in a house that they love, and maybe don’t know any different. But if you’ve experienced a completed home, then you’re not living with this constant task list in your head,” Nadine smiles.

“There’s an easing of the mind.” Your journey home is complete.
