Male pedestrian dies following crash near Nowra NSW

A male pedestrian aged in his 50s has died following a crash near Nowra on the NSW South Coast this morning, Saturday 30 April.

Just after 5am today, emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, near Comberton Grange Road, at Falls Creek, south of Nowra, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a truck.

Officers attached to NSW South Coast Police District attended along with NSW Ambulance paramedics and the man, aged in his 50s, was declared deceased. He is yet to be formally identified.

The driver of the Isuzu Pantech truck was taken to Shoalhaven Hospital for mandatory testing.

A crime scene has been established and will be examined by specialist officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.

Initial inquiries suggest the man was struck by a second vehicle, described only as a light-coloured SUV while lying injured on the roadway. It did not stop, and police are conducting inquiries to locate the vehicle and speak to the driver.

The northbound lanes remain closed with local traffic diversions in place. Motorists are advised to avoid the area or delay their travel plans.
