Man arrested after disturbing sexual assault

A 52-year-old Hawker man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today, Monday 29 June, on seven charges arising from a sexual assault on a woman on Saturday 27 June and a further incident at the hospital the next afternoon.

This first incident took place on Saturday evening and police will allege the man prevented the woman from leaving his residence, throwing several knives at her, before assaulting and attempting to choke the woman, then sexually assaulting her.  

ACT Police arrested the man on Sunday afternoon, 28 June. He was taken to hospital for assessment under police guard.

Police will allege he also assaulted a nurse who was attempting to provide him with medication while at the hospital.

The man is scheduled to appear at the ACT Magistrates Court charged with sexual assault, sexual intercourse without consent, forcible confinement, choke, suffocate, strangle another person, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, assault frontline community service worker.

Macgregor man to face court on child sex offences

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man will face court charged with child sex offences after evidence was found at a house in Macgregor.

Police arrested the man on Saturday 27 June after executing a search warrant at a Macgregor address where several items of evidence were located and seized.

The man is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today, Monday 29 June, charged with maintaining a sexual relationship with a young person and using the internet to provide pornography to a young person.
