Man charged with murder following fatal Cooma stabbing

A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder after two men were stabbed, one fatally, in Cooma in the early hours of Monday 15 February.

At about 4am on 15 February, emergency services were contacted after reports two men had been stabbed.

The men reportedly drove to Cooma Hospital for treatment, where one, a 38-year-old man, who was suffering stab wounds to his abdomen, neck and chest, died on arrival.

A second man, aged 19, was treated for wounds to his arm.

He has since been transported to Canberra Hospital and remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Monaro Police District attended and established a crime scene at the hospital and at Shannons Flat Road, where the 21-year-old man was arrested in bushland at about 6am.

He was taken to Cooma Police Station and charged with murder and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and will appear in Cooma Local Court today.
