Man arrested on assault, attempted abduction charges

A 49-year-old Spence man will face the ACT Magistrate Court today, Monday 7 September, following a serious assault and attempted abduction in Latham on Friday 4 September.

About 9.20am, a man was assaulted at the Latham shops by two men.

Police will allege the two men attempted to tie up the victim before trying to place him in the back of a silver Holden utility.

The victim successfully resisted their attempts but received serious injuries in the process and the men fled in the utility.

The victim was treated at the scene by ACT Ambulance Service Paramedics before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

One of the two men was arrested by police on Saturday and taken to the ACT Regional Watch House.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today on charges including aggravated robbery (in company), intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm, attempted unlawful confinement, and theft.

Investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
