Man charged after allegedly sexually assaulting former partner

A 37-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after he allegedly sexually assaulted his former partner.

On Sunday 13 October, the man’s former partner attended Belconnen Police Station to report an alleged sexual assault committed against her by the man.

Investigators from the Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) began inquiries and yesterday, 17 October, arrested the 37-year-old man in Curtin.

He has been charged with two counts of sexual intercourse without consent and one count each of aggravated sexual assault in the 2nd and 3rd degrees.

If you or someone you know has been affected by sexual violence, you can report to police by attending a police station, calling 131 444, or by speaking to the Canberra Rape Crisis Centre on 02 6247 2525.
