Man charged after violent incident in Greenway

A 46-year-old man is set to appear in court after allegedly attempting to run over another man during an altercation in Greenway yesterday.

Around 5:20pm on Sunday 24 November, a man and woman were sitting in a car at Pine Island Reserve when the 46-year-old, known to the woman, approached the vehicle.

Police allege the man began banging on the car window before pulling the male occupant from the vehicle and assaulting him with punches and kicks.

Bystanders intervened, separating the two, but the man then got into his vehicle and drove toward the victim. The victim sought refuge behind a boulder, which the vehicle struck before the man fled the scene.

Later that evening, around 10pm, police located and arrested the man in Calwell. He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, recklessly threatening to kill, and attempting to use an offensive weapon.

The man is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today, Monday 25 November.
