A man has been charged with murder over a baseball bat attack during a home invasion on the NSW Central Coast.
Around 8.45pm on Tuesday emergency services were called to reports of a home invasion at Chittaway Bay – about 20km north of Gosford.
Police were told a man entered the home and bashed a 70-year-old man with a baseball bat, before running off.
The 70-year-old man suffered critical injuries to his head and was taken to Gosford Hospital where he died.
A 67-year-old woman and a 10-year-old girl who were in the home at the time were not injured.
Around midday on Wednesday police raided a home at nearby Berkeley Vale and seized a number of items.
A 30-year-old man arrived at the home when officers were there and ran off when he saw police.
He was arrested nearby, with police seizing a baseball bat and jacket allegedly discarded by the man in a neighbour’s garden.
The man was taken to Wyong Police Station and charged with murder.
He was refused bail and will appear in Wyong Local Court on Thursday.
