Man charged with murder after shooting death in Oberon NSW

A middle-aged man has been charged with murder over the shooting death of a man in the NSW Central Tablelands.

Luke Simon, 57, is set to spend seven weeks in jail ahead of his next court appearance after being charged and refused bail at Bathurst Local Court on Friday.

The court heard there were health concerns about the accused’s condition.

NSW Police found the body of a man, believed to be aged in his 30s, dead with a gunshot wound after being called to Jenolan Street in Oberon on Thursday morning.

Officers arrested Simon and seized a gun at the scene.

Initial inquiries suggest the two men were known to each other, police say.

Simon will remain in custody until his next court date on April 5.
