Man charged with NSW murder arrested in Chisholm

A second man has been charged with the shooting murder of a Newcastle woman who was killed at her front door earlier this year.

Stacey Klimovitch, 61, was shot dead when she opened the door of her Stockton home on the evening of June 8.

Officers from Newcastle City Police District established Strike Force Backhouse to investigate the circumstances surrounding Stacey’s murder.

Last Friday, 26 November, detectives arrested 29-year-old Stuart Daniel Campbell in Honeysuckle and will allege he is the one who orchestrated the shooting. He was charged and remains before the courts.

With help from ACT Policing, officers arrested 46-year-old Jason Paul Hawkins on a NSW warrant at a home in Chisholm, ACT, about 6.45pm on Friday. NSW Police will accuse Hawkins of pulling the trigger.

On Monday, strike force detectives were granted Hawkins’ extradition from the ACT to NSW.

He was taken to Queanbeyan Police Station and charged with murder, refused bail and will appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on Tuesday.
