A man in his 40s died with COVID-19 yesterday in the Intensive Care Unit at Canberra Hospital, bringing the total deaths for the current ACT outbreak to 11. Several of the earlier deaths attributed to COVID were of elderly people who had already been receiving end-of-life care.
In a media statement this morning, ACT Health extended its condolences to the man’s family and friends. The statement did not specify the man’s vaccination status or if he had underlying medical conditions.
An ACT Health spokesperson advised that “Further information will not be released at this time. We ask that people respect the privacy of his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Six new cases were recorded in the ACT in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday, bringing the total number of cases for this outbreak to 1,698. There are 125 active cases.
The number of patients with Coronavirus in ACT hospitals is three, including one in intensive care and one ventilated.
The ACT has received 1,903 negative test results in the 24 hours to 9am today.
There is now 94.4 per cent of ACT residents aged 12 and over who are fully vaccinated.
