Man wanted for fatal NSW stabbing arrested in Canberra

A man wanted for a fatal stabbing in Sydney on Friday 9 June has been arrested in Canberra and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 13 June.

NSW Police will be seeking his extradition regarding the stabbing incident that saw another man die in St Clair, NSW.

ACT Policing arrested the 24-year-old man following a single vehicle collision on Gungahlin Drive, Bruce about 2.20am on Monday 12 June.

Belconnen Patrol officers arrived at the scene about 2.40am, and observed the vehicle still had its engine running, and that the driver had left the scene. Examination of the vehicle revealed the number plates affixed to the car were fake, and made of polystyrene foam material.

Officers commenced a search for the driver, locating him in Macquarie about 3.30am, and placed him under arrest.

Police checks revealed the man as the subject of an active arrest warrant in NSW.

The man was conveyed to the ACT Watch House and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
