Police in northern Tasmania have urged anyone harbouring a man wanted over a double stabbing to give him up or face possible charges themselves.
An “extensive search” is ongoing in the Launceston area in an attempt to find 44-year-old Kerry Whiting.
It is alleged Whiting broke in to a house in the Launceston suburb of Ravenswood about 3.30am on Thursday.
A man, aged in his 30s, was stabbed and died at the scene, while a woman, also in her 30s, is being treated at Launceston General hospital after too being attacked.
Police say Whiting was known to the pair.
“Anyone who is harbouring or assisting Kerry is urged to reconsider their actions immediately and come forward,” Detective Inspector Mel Groves said on Monday.
“If police identify someone as assisting or harbouring Kerry, they themselves will face the potential of charges.”
Anyone who sees the 44-year-old is asked not to approach him and call police immediately on triple zero.
