A Mawson man went two weeks without realising he’d scored $909,000 in Saturday Lotto after skipping a week of purchasing his usual lottery tickets.
The Canberran held one of the 11 division one winning entries for the draw on Saturday 7 January 2023. Each division one winning entry scored $909,091.91.
The ticket was unregistered which means officials from The Lott had no way of contacting the ticketholder to reveal the life-changing news and had to wait for the winner to come forward.
“Thank you so much!” he cheered as an official from The Lott confirmed his incredible windfall.
“I discovered the win this morning at the newsagency, and I was left slightly stunned.
“I purchase 50-games every fortnight for two weeks, and for some reason I didn’t do it last week.
“Therefore, I couldn’t check my ticket until this morning!
“I’ve told my wife already, and she couldn’t believe it.
“It’s going to help us so much.
“Firstly, we will pay off the home mortgage. Then, we will complete some bits and pieces around the house.
“We’re very grateful!”
His winning entry was purchased at Southlands Newsagency and owner Greg Gow said he couldn’t be happier to have sold a division one winning entry to a local and regular customer.
“We’re feeling overjoyed to hear the winner has claimed their prize and we’re stoked to see the division one winning entry go to a regular customer,” he said.
“We’ve been celebrating the division one winning entry ever since. We’ve put up balloons and signage to share the winning news with the community.
“This division one win has been a long time coming for our outlet as it’s been over 15 years since we last sold a division one winning entry, but I hope it’s the start of a winning streak for 2023!
“Congratulations to the winning man and we wish him all the best with his division one prize!”
