Michael McGoogan, former co-CEO and director of Region Media (publisher of Riotact), has resigned from his roles effective immediately following charges of family violence.

McGoogan stepped aside from his position last month after he was arrested and charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one count of resisting a territory public official.

The 37-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charges at the ACT Magistrates Court on 3 May.

McGoogan is accused of dragging the female victim across the floor by her arm and ripping her hair out. Officers who arrived at the scene reported seeing a large bruise on the victim’s forearm and a scratch across her chest. McGoogan also allegedly told police that he was “a very violent man” when he resisted arrest.

Region founder Tim White will take over as sole CEO of the company.

“I will continue to lead the organisation with the support of the Advisory Board and the executive team,” Mr White said.

“You can be confident that business at Region (publisher of Riotact) will continue as usual.”

Region says it “takes matters of family violence very seriously and understands the impact matters of this nature have in the wider community.”
