Declan Shrubb is a filmmaker and musician from Canberra. A band member of Pleased to Jive You since high school, he’s played alongside everyone from Peking Duk and Hands Like Houses to Aunty Donna. As a filmmaker, Declan was the writer, director and producer of the Screen Canberra supported oz-zom-com Me and My Mates vs the Zombie Apocalypse starring Jim Jefferies and Alex Williamson. His production company, Quippurb, creates sketch comedy, podcasts, short films and music videos.
Music
Since starting piano lessons at age five and self-teaching myself the guitar at 13, writing, rehearsing, recording and performing music with my band, Pleased to Jive You (pictured), has been a constant pleasure.
Movies and TV
As an avid enthusiast, most of my spare time goes towards either watching or writing TV and movies. I’ve written/directed/produced two feature films and a TV pilot and have a stockpile of projects that I’m working on bringing to life.
Soccer
A love I had until my late teens, then faded away from, only to come back to during the 2014 World Cup in full force. You’ll find me around Canberra playing outdoor, futsal, summer sixes and nines or up late watching Liverpool games.
Comedy
I’m obsessed with all things comedy: TV shows, movies, podcasts, sketch, stand-up. I even produce my own stuff with my sketch troupe/production company, Quippurb.
Alex Hoss
Although not an object, she’s been my partner, muse and best friend for half of my life and supports me through all of my artistic, professional and personal endeavours.
