The National Film & Sound Archive of Australia’s new CEO, Patrick McIntyre, steps into the job this week, heralding a new chapter of leadership for the institution.
McIntyre said he’s eager to commence working with the Archive’s extensive collection, “one of the country’s most exciting cultural assets”.
“Particularly as it increasingly becomes available in digital forms,” he said.
“I am very much looking forward to working with the team to further enrich the collection, make sure it is preserved for future generations, and to find new ways to bring it to life and increase access.”
McIntyre joins the Archive from the Sydney Theatre Company, where he held the title of executive director for over 11 years.
He has more than 25 years’ experience in arts and cultural management, including with The Australian Ballet and Sydney Film Festival.
McIntyre has also held positions on several boards and advisory boards, including at Live Performance Australia, the CREATE Centre at the University of Sydney, ArtsReady, and the Deakin University arts management program.
McIntyre was appointed as CEO in June of this year following the resignation of former Archive CEO Jan Müller in December 2020.
In the interim, Archive Chief Operating Officer, Nancy Eyers, acted as Chief Executive.
Müller was appointed as Archive CEO in July 2017.
