New rules as fans welcomed back to GIO Stadium

With rugby league set to return to GIO Stadium Canberra on Friday 3 July, patrons will have a number of new rules to adhere to on their return to the venue. That is, if you are one of the lucky ones to secure a ticket.

The Canberra Raiders announced on Thursday 25 June that public tickets will be capped at 1,500 for sale (sold at a flat fee of $15 each) with each member allocation to be positioned in the inner bowl.

Tickets will go on sale to all access members on Monday 29 June at 2pm; however, the club has highlighted a number of changes to the terms of entry to GIO Stadium which may impact spectators’ decisions to attend.

As part of the changes, all ticket holders must be seated three seats apart, in the seat allocated on their ticket, even if they are from the same household. Exceptions are made for one child under 12 or a patron with special needs.

Additionally, no bags or drink bottles, of any kind, can be brought into the stadium (exception, one sealed, non-alcoholic beverage in a plastic bottle, up to 600ml size), and all clothing must be worn into the stadium, with permitted personal belongings to be carried in your hand or pockets.

A full list of GIO Stadium Terms and Conditions is available online and is current as of 25 June for the games between the Raiders v Dragons (3 July) and Brumbies v Rebels (4 July).

The additional temporary conditions are in place as a result of the current COVID-19 pandemic and in addition to GIO Stadium’s usual Conditions of Entry.

Meantime, the Brumbies have started the ballot process for fans to be able to attend their clash with the Rebels on 4 July.

In an email sent out to members, the Brumbies have asked that people only apply for the ballot if they are certain they will be able to attend the match on 4 July.

“As a courtesy to the thousands of members who would also love the opportunity, we ask that you please only submit your entry into the ballot if you are 100% sure you will be attending on the night if successful through the ballot process.”

The member ballot closed at noon today, Friday 26 June with paid full-season members given priority access to tickets.

Should restrictions still be in place for future home games, members that were unsuccessful during this ballot process will be given priority access for the next match.
