The ACT’s total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remains at 106 after no new cases were recorded in Canberra overnight.
Yesterday’s confirmed case of a young adult female is still under investigation. ACT Health advises the case is likely related to overseas travel. The woman has been isolating and ACT Health is working with a small number of close contacts. it is believed there is no risk to the wider community.
A previous case, a male aged in his 60s, has been reclassified from “under investigation” to “overseas acquired from a cruise ship”. ACT Health is confident there has been no risk to the wider community as the man did all the right things once returning to Canberra.
Of the 106 confirmed cases in the ACT, 99 have now recovered from COVID-19 and have been released from self-isolation.
There is currently one COVID-19 patient in a Canberra hospital in a stable condition. The remaining cases are isolating at home with ACT Health support.
The ACT’s death toll from COVID-19 remains at three.
The number of negative tests in the ACT is now 7,886.
ACT Chief Health Officer Dr Kerryn Coleman said “our health care workforce are particularly grateful for the cooperation we are seeing across the ACT this weekend”.
“Thank you to everyone for your efforts in helping us continue to flatten the curve, particularly on Anzac Day,” Dr Coleman said. “It was so wonderful to see everyone still connecting on this important day and commemorating Anzac Day even with physical distancing measures in place.”
