Nominations open for ACT Inclusion Awards

Nominations are now open for the 2024 Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards, which celebrate individuals, businesses, and organisations that champion inclusion across Canberra.

“Canberrans are invited to nominate their champions of inclusion, those people who work tirelessly to ensure that people with a disability are included in every aspect of life, whether it is work, recreation, services or supports,” Chief Minister Andrew Barr said.

The Inclusion Awards acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding achievements of disabled people who are community leaders, as well as the businesses, organisations and individuals that encourage, welcome, and support disabled people in their workplace, business, and community.

“The Inclusion Awards … provide a fantastic platform to showcase the outstanding achievements of people with disability in Canberra,” David Smith, chair of the ACT Inclusion Council, said.

“They also highlight the excellent work of many businesses and organisations who have considered how they can be more accessible and inclusive.”

This year, there are six categories:

  • Leader in Inclusion
  • Excellence in Inclusive and Innovative Employment Practices
  • Excellence in Collaborating with People with Disability
  • Excellence in Access and Inclusion
  • Excellence in Innovative Impact
  • Sue Salthouse Award for Championing Human Rights and Equality

“The six awards will acknowledge the efforts of people who are striving to ensure the type of inclusion the community is keen to see in Canberra,” Mr Barr said.

“There are some fantastic people in Canberra who are deserving of recognition through the Awards, and I look forward to these champions being acknowledged for their efforts.”

Nominations for the Chief Minister’s Inclusion Awards will close at 5pm on Monday, 23 September.

Further information on the award categories and nominations can be found on the website.
